A.G.M. Martin Farrelly stepped down as secretary of the club at the A.G.M. which was held on Friday evening last in the Community Centre. The chairman, Bernard Freeman, paid tribute to Martin for his dedication and diligence over the past six years and thanked him for his service to the club and its members. He wished him the best for the future and expressed the hope that Martin would return to a central role within the club before too long.
Martin thanked the chairman and members for their kind words and assured all that he would stay close to the club and would continue to devote as much time as possible to the club and its further development.
The treasurer, Jim McMahon, produced a very comprehensive report which detailed the income and expenditure for the financial year to date. Both the secretary and treasurer reminded the members of the importance of supporting the upcoming Strictly Christmas event, to ensure that the club could continue with the development plans in 2015.
Following the submission of the various reports the election of officers took place with James Finnegan being elected to take on the role of secretary. On his election to the chair Bernard Freeman reminded members that this had to be his last year holding this position as he would be ineligible in 2016. The others officer positions were filled by the outgoing members for the new year.
A lively debate followed on some well-thought motions and the new executive agreed to work on these ideas for 2015. The submission of such motions shows that the members of the club are serious about the future of the club and its players. The future of the club should be secure in the hands of such dedicated members.
