Winter Training. The junior academy and Under-8 training will commence on the Saturday 7th of February for all young people born in 2007, 2008 and 2009. The training will take place in the Community Centre starting at 10.00 a.m. The Strength and Conditioning programme continues for another four weeks. This is a great way to get an edge on the opposition for the new season. All Under- 14 and Under-16 players are requested to attend.
Call All Budding Referees. Monaghan County Board are seeking new referees for the new season. If you think that you have what is needed to make a good referee then your club needs you. Training will be provided and the support of the county referee committee is guaranteed. This is an ideal opportunity for a young player or a recently retired player to make a further contribution to the game. There is a serious shortage for juvenile games so younger referees would be particularly welcome. More details can be found on the Facebook page or from the club chairman.
Buncrana Cup Winners Honoured. Congratulations to Jack Kirk and Padraig McMahon on receiving awards for their part in the recent Monaghan victory with the County Under-16 Development Squad. The Monaghan team won the Buncrana Cup for the first time and the successful members were honoured at an awards ceremony in Cloghan in the past week. All in the Magheracloone club will be hoping to see these players and others playing for the county minors and seniors in the coming years.
County Championship Draw. The draw for the preliminary and first rounds of this year’s senior championship was made at the County Committee meeting on Monday. The draw threw up some interesting clashes with Magheracloone facing Clontibret in the first round. No dates have been fixed for these games as yet and the early league games will give a clear idea on how each team is preparing for what will be a tough encounter.

Health and Well-Being. At the recent monthly meeting the club executive decided to organise a CPR course for mentors and members. This will include instruction on how to use a defibrillator. There are a number of such defibrillators in various buildings in the parish and the club would like to have a number of members who would be trained in their use. Further information can be obtained from any executive member or from the Health and Well-Being Officer.
