We had no winner of this week’s jackpot, the four numbers picked were 1, 5, 16 and 19. Peter Tuite, Caolán Flaherty, Paudie Kindlon and Mary Fox each win €50 from the Lucky Dip draw. Next week’s jackpot is for €2900 and the draw will take place in the club rooms on Monday evening. You can do the lotto via the usual outlets and online at www.magheracloonemitchells.
Congratulations to Senior team players Michael Metzger and Paul McArdle who won the Philadelphia Senior Championship on Sunday last with St. Pat’s Donegal GFC. Well done lads!!
Our Seniors were defeated by Ballybay last Sunday in the first round of the Championship. Despite being one point up at half time it was a lead we couldn’t hold on to as Ballybay scored too many unanswered points leaving us with too much to do. Full time score Magheracloone 2-09 Ballybay 1-18. Our focus now turns back to the league and we play Scotstown at home on Saturday evening at 5:30pm. All support welcome.
Our Minors live to fight another day as they survived a scare in the Connolly Meats Division 1 Cup Final. In a tightly contested game Magheracloone worked hard and never gave up even after going three points behind very near the end. A well worked free from Ryan McNulty saw Liam Óg Murray hit the back of the Aughnamullen net leaving the score Magheracloone 3-09 Aughnamullen 1-15. Replay has yet to be fixed.
The U17’s have a busy schedule starting on Thursday evening at home to Scotstown at 6:45pm in the league and then they are away to St. Pat’s on Sunday morning at 11am in the first round of the Mallon’s Food U17 Division 2 Championship.
Our U11’s play Kingscourt in a challenge on Saturday at 10am.

Our U7’s have their final training session of the year on Wednesday evening from 7pm to 8pm. We wrap up the season with a Blitz in Magheracloone on Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm. Parents are asked to bring sandwiches/biscuits etc for refreshments afterwards.
Our U10’s attended a well organised Blitz in Inniskeen last Saturday morning. A great morning was had by all.
Get well soon to Lucie Doogan who is currently out of action with a broken finger.
The U12 Lions play Rd 5 of the League away to Truagh on Thursday 30th August at 7pm.
The U12 Tigers play Rd 5 of the League at home to Donaghmoyne B on Friday 31st August at 7pm.
Hard luck to our U14’s who fell short to neighbours Carrickmacross in the quarter final of the Div 1 Championship last Monday evening. Full time score: 3-05 to 3-11
Best of luck to Carrick in the semi final.
Magheracloone U16 Ladies organised a mini U16 Blitz on Saturday morning last which was a resounding success. Five teams in total from three Clubs participated namely Corduff, Knockbride and host club Magheracloone providing plenty of football for all the girls involved. All games were played in a very sporting manner and great fun was had by all. Many thanks to David Whyte of Howell’s Jewellers for sponsoring beautifully engraved trophies for all teams. To Justin O’Rourke of Magheracloone Service Station and Peter Martin for sponsoring refreshments. To Louise Kerley and Aoife Toner for taking charge of the whistle. Thanks to all the parents who helped with the catering and to Ollie and Bernie for organising a fantastic day in which the girls thoroughly enjoyed.
Good luck to one of our future stars, Nicole Kindlon who will be playing at half time in the All Ireland football final on Sunday in Croke Park.
Best wishes to all our future stars who begin the next chapter of their lives in secondary school this week.
Reminder: Our Annual Club Flag Day is in Carrickmacross on Sat 8th Sept. Please support generously.
